A former student of Joe Satriani, Russ has 32 years of experience playing guitar. He performs throughout California in various bands and plays different styles of music including Top 40, all styles of rock (classic, metal, grunge, 50s, 60s, and more), blues, funk, R&B, jazz and world jazz, flamenco fusion, and instrumental fusion. Russ's curriculum includes reading notation, chords, scales, theory, improvisation, harmony, ear training, rhythm guitar, and lead guitar.

 

Russ has a self-published book called Heavy Metal Mechanics. It focuses on Metal rhythm guitar playing.
